FBLE Releases Series of Reports on the Farm Bill

The Farm Bill Law Enterprise (FBLE) released three reports that apply a justice lens to the farm bill debate still underway on Capitol Hill. The reports are the product of a partnership between law school programs, led by the Harvard Law School Food Law and Policy Clinic and including Duke Law School Environmental Law & Policy Clinic; Harvard Law School Environmental Policy Initiative and Emmett Environmental Law and Policy Clinic; Harvard Law School Health Law and Policy Clinic; Pace University Elisabeth Haub School of Law Food Law Initiative; UCLA School of Law Resnick Program for Food Law and Policy; Vermont Law School Center for Agriculture and Food Systems; and Yale Law School Environmental Protection Clinic. By combining expertise in food, public health, and environmental law, FBLE is the first effort of its kind.

Read about FBLE's visit to Capitol Hill to share our research and help Congress write a farm bill that creates opportunity for all farmers, provides a reliable safety net against hunger, and conserves our shared natural resources.

Food Safety Regulations and Guidance for Food Donation: A 50-State Survey of State Practices
FLPC has released a report analyzing the current landscape of state-level regulations and guidance on the topic of food safety for food donation. Donation of safe, wholesome surplus food to those in need can play an important role in both reducing food waste and addressing food security. However, uncertainty about the proper food safety procedures to follow when donating food creates confusion among businesses, food recovery organizations, and health inspectors. This report provides the first comprehensive data on this topic at a national level.
